Hoctoine
The Hoctoine are a caste of the citizenry of the main nations of Planet Banx. The term denotes the natural separation between the Nadthsade cast whose role in the Banxisithine culture are focused on spiritual matters, meditation, contemplation, and forms of spiritual work and expression as opposed to the Hoctoine whose focus are on matters of achieving personal balance and proficiency. As the Banxisithine pre-colonial society dictated, each caste were to follow their attraction as a natural evolutionary model. The Hoctoine represented the citizenry who supported the Nadthsade, until their own thirst for Nadthsade ‘homelessness,’ emerges.
After the colonization of Banx by the Bainish Empire, the balance between the two castes was thrown into chaos as Nadthsade were vilified, and as the Hocts became more materialistic and resentful of the disciplines to enter Nadthsade orders. This spurned the political movements in which certain Hoctoine groups declared themselves Nadthsade without ever needing to practice the necessary rites. The Hoctoine revolts led to the closure of many mosks/ashrams and to the ouster of Nadthsade masters who once revered in ancient times.
Many scholars argue that it was the work of Bain’s East Ephrasian Company, that spurned these revolts, and BSS, who disseminated propaganda that led to unrest and rioting, and that eventually led to Bain’s having undue leverage in all Banx’s decision making after granting their independence in 3885.
