The Dawn of Ecstasy’s Dreaming – Page 11
Last night the chill was the serious kind, where the notion of throwing on a jacket in my travels was seriously considered. I love fall.
“This Halloween I actually carved a pumpkin,” I said to Santosha Ma.
“Really?!” She said disbelievingly.
“Yeah that pic I sent was it.”
“Oh! Ha! You did that?”
“Yeah! Can you believe it?” I replied. I hadn’t done one since 1989, I remembered. It was for a film project in college.
Anyhow, fall is really nice. Driving the California highways has been fun as of late, the slight color, but mainly the light and the air.
I enjoyed certain Halloween musical standards– Siouxsee and the Banshees for instance– as I drove back from Emeryville last night. It was a Stanford doc appointment.
Unfortunately another round battling thyroid cancer is upon me. It’s been twelve years of it, surgery after surgery, radioactive iodine, and even a short stint with inhibitor drugs.
I have a rare and aggressive tall cell variant that just will NOT quit.
So with that hopefully more creativity as I convalesce. It is getting harder though.
“It’s difficult for many to key in on the adventure.” I said to Santosha Ma as I sat across her dining room table. The conversation shifted from how my day went with visiting the new surgeon, to how things were going with art. I was excited about a new drawing of dragon I’ve been working on. I was telling her how I feel it communicates so much of what I’ve been eager to express in the fictional narrative as well as my own personal one.
“You see it that way though, an adventure. Even if it comes down to your death.” Santosha Ma said.
“Yes. It seems the purpose of it,” a kind of short hand of the deeper self courting one to notice how lovely it is despite deaths turning the colors in earthen tones.
Yeah I’m excited about the conclusion of Dawn of Ecstasy’s Dreaming as I’ve penned it.
