Sten (Planet)
The mysterious, green M class planet of the star system known as the Diamond Region. The final discovery of Bainish explorers in the 3890’s, Sten was jointly colonized by both Bain and Banx after the 1st Inter-planetary war which resulted in the “Great Peace of the Sister Worlds,” and the establishment of the Valley of New hope in the Northeastern portion of Stenite Pangea.
Sten can only be travelled to by way of the rift, an unexplained energy vortex which allows ships operating Tension .3 engines to pass through an apparent hole orbiting planet Banx.
The planet would later be colonized by the Triken Empire in the extreme north end of the continent (See Battle of Banx), resulting in the Bainish/Odan wars, until ultimately the rift collapsed, cutting off access to all Empires.
The ‘diamond region,’ world, Sten was popularly written about in Bainish literature and was the focus of many popular fairy tales and adventure tales as it’s deeply rich naturalness evoked a sense of newness in the Bainish consciousness. After the ‘discovery,’ of Sten by Bain, many Hoctoin observed that “Bains have seemed to rediscovered wonder through Sten,” as the green world, the deep rich color of the heart chakra, seemed to offer hope given the trajectory Bain found itself wedded to after the long centuries of war with Banx.
“It seems Bain’s, do have hearts. Unfortunately they seem to see things in exactly the same way, along the lines of profit and ownership” Anandanin, a Nadthsade philosopher wrote as Bain quickly empowered East Ephrasia to lay it’s claims– in the name of the crown– in the Hocto-Bainish Valley of New Hope project of 3892.
Despite the lopsided Bainish historical telling, Planet Sten, was never actually discovered. It’s human indigenous, though their ears sharp and elfin, are more compatible with Bain type humans in terms of physiology, and are varied and multiplictous, with a staggering amount of cultures many never catalogued by Hocto-Bainish explorers before the eventual cataclysm of the rift collapsing in the year 4193.
